This is what it's all about.
Fall, early morning. Bit of a nip in
the air. Outgoing tide Light wind -
little wave action.
3- 5-ozs. should hold sufficiently.
You look up and down the beach and -
can't see a soul.
You've got your hot coffee with you.
Maybe if you're really resourceful,
an Apple Ugly from the
"Orange Blossom" in Buxton.
You rig your rod and bait up.
Don't forget to spit on your bait
for good luck.
And you cast into the slough between
the beach and the sandbar.
Who knows what will hit it:
a throw-back blue,
or a 100# shark,
or nothing at all (SQUAT!).
Doesn't make any difference.
It's just another beautiful morning
to be alone on the beach.
